About the Artist: The Story of a Woman Who Would Not Give Up

Nea Hanna was born in the South Texas town of Bandera where she was raised on hard work, country living, and home cooking. From the time she was old enough to hold a crayon, she knew she wanted to be an artist. When she was eleven, her family moved to Wyoming and she fell in love with the landscape of the west. Throughout high school she pursued art, with first place finishes every year in Wyoming's statewide competition. She knew she could turn her love of creating art into a career when she sold her first artworks as a freshman in high school. After graduation, she set her sights on pursuing an art degree and briefly enrolled at Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design in Colorado. Due to circumstances beyond her control, she was forced to leave school and enter the workforce full-time. The necessities of life, however, did not diminish her obsession with art and creating. She never stopped pursuing either, despite working multiple jobs at a time.

After falling in love with Savannah on a visit in 2014, Nea moved there and set out to live up to the artistic spirit of the city. Her creative endeavors have included painting, illustration, photography, hand-sewn accessories, handmade jewelry, and most recently, ceramics. Over the past 5 years she’s shown in several juried art exhibits in Savannah.  She sells her creations at local and regional art markets, fairs, and events in addition to online platforms such as Etsy, Shopify, Facebook, and Instagram.

Nea currently resides in Savannah, Georgia with her loving, supportive partner and her pretty but mean cat, Luna.
